Instructor of the Week: Emily

This week's Instructor of the Week is Emily Equitz!

Emily is a second year instructor with Sugar Land Swim School.  She is a highly valued and very talented instructor, especially with Learn to Swim classes.  Emily's outgoing personality helps to put her students at ease as they learn to swim.  It is not uncommon for a swimmer who is completely terrified of the water to be an amazing swimmer once they have finished with her class.

Congratulations Emily!

9 Month Old Twins Swim Length of Pool!

Click the link below to learn about 9 month old twins who can swim 25 meters unassisted!

The most important take-away from this article: don't panic!  Their instructor stated that the twins "don't panic when they are upturned in the water, when they are not quite coming round quick enough."

No matter how old you are, in order to learn how to swim you must stay relaxed in the water. For a beginner, feeling relaxed takes time, so don't feel discouraged if it takes several lessons before you achieve that feeling.

Swimming Linked to Intellectual Development

Not only will swim lessons equip your child with a life-saving skill but may also stimulate your child's intellectual development.  A new study conducted by Griffith University in Australia found that children younger than 5 years old who participate in swimming achieve certain developmental milestones before children who do not participate in swimming.

Check out the article from Education Week below:

Early Swim Lessons Help Intellectual Development

Sugar Land Swim School will be back in New Territory and Chelsea Harbour starting in mid-May. Hope to see you at the pool this summer!
